New Oscott becomes 6th member

New Oscott Primary School has officially become the 6th member of Broadleaf Partnership Trust.

The three form entry school close to Sutton Park joins and strengthens a Primary phase that already consisted of Holland House Infant & Nursery, Town Junior and Court Farm Primary, with the aim for even greater collaboration across schools to share resources, knowledge and expertise.

BPT CEO Claire Pritchard says it is an exciting time to add a new school to our evolving partnership as the Trust continues to focus on delivering for the communities we serve:

We are delighted that this wonderful, community-driven school chose to join our Trust and we are excited about the expertise they bring to our partnership as well as how they will benefit from our collaboration to achieve their full potential. It is a year of change for New Oscott, with a new building, a new partnership, and a new Headteacher later in the year when Mrs Walklett retires after a very successful tenure. Governors have thoughtfully made the right decision to ensure that the school has an established support network, through the Broadleaf partnership to support the school to continue to flourish through this time. We very much look forward to working with New Oscott.

Chair of Governors, Katy Lewis, says it marks the end of one part of their journey and the start of another:

Seeing New Oscott Primary School re-open to staff and students this term, as an official partner of the Broadleaf Partnership Trust,  and in a brand-new building too, was a momentous occasion. It is the culmination of a long period of hard work by both governors and the senior leadership team and I am so excited for the start of a wonderful new chapter for New Oscott.

Sutton Coldfield MP, Sir Andrew Mitchell, was amongst the first visitors to New Oscott’s gleaming new facilities, cutting the ribbon to mark the new building, and new start for the school within Broadleaf. Headteacher Mrs Walklett thanked all those who played a part in delivering a school fit for the future that will hopefully be a lasting legacy for a school she has served for so long:

We are absolutely thrilled to have moved into our incredible new school building at the beginning of the new school year. This is the culmination of many years of working with our Governing Board, local authority and the DfE to secure recognition of the need for a new building for our school community. We are extremely grateful to everyone who has supported this work along the way, including governors past and present, supported by the local authority and Sutton Coldfield MP, Sir Andrew Mitchell.

Our pupils, staff and families absolutely love our new school. Our new school building and facilities are superb, and will enable us to further develop our aspirational curriculum and excellent educational opportunities.

Broadleaf Partnership Trust now comprises Holland House Infant & Nursery, Town Junior School, Court Farm and New Oscott Primaries, Perryfelds Academy and Plantsbrook School, covering the full educational journey from nursery to sixth form. All schools within the Trust are benefitting of major investment in technology, with the rollout of personal Chromebooks for students and teaching staff continuing, and a major rebuild of Perryfields advancing quickly.
