Policies
All of our policies are available to view via the People Portal pages of The Hub, our dedicated staff intranet. Please ensure you familiarise yourself with the relevant policies to you and your role. All staff must read the Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and our Code of Conduct. As well as Policies, The Hub also hosts links to useful forms, documents and FAQ for Payroll, Finance procedures and more. The full schedule of policies is available on The Hub here whilst our publicly available policies are on our website here
Code of Conduct
You are expected to adhere to the Broadleaf Partnership Trust Code of Conduct, which sets out the professional standards and behaviours expected and your duty to abide by them. Following the Code will help safeguard you from being maliciously, falsely or mistakenly suspected or accused of misconduct. Breaches of the code may result in action under our Disciplinary Procedures.
Read the code via the policies page of our website here
Payroll
We operate a single payroll across all of our schools, which is outsourced to a company called Edupay. All staff are paid on the 28th of each month, except where the 28th falls on a bank holiday or weekend (when it is paid on the last available working day before the 28th).
We do not issue paper payslips, and instead you can access these and other documents, such as your P60, via the Edupay portal. Login details will be sent to your personal or work email address prior to your first payday.
Pay Progression
It is our Trust policy that annual pay progression is automatic and not intrinsically linked to performance review. Automatic progression will be one pay point, except in the case of exceptional performance, where one further pay point may be considered, or in cases where the employee is subject to formal capability procedures in which case there will be no automatic progression. To find out more, please refer to our Pay Policy.
Overtime
Claims for overtime should be agreed in advance by your line manager. You can then claim for your time via Edupay which will be approved by your line manager and then passed to the HR team for payment via payroll. The cut off for processing overtime is the 8th of each month, meaning that overtime is usually paid in the payroll the month after it is worked.
Reporting Absence
On the first day of sickness absence, you must telephone the Trust Absence line on 0121 289 2804 to inform the team of your absence by 7am for schools in our Primary phase, and by 7:15am for our Secondary schools. You will be asked to explain why you are going to be off work, and as far as you are able, when you are likely to be well enough to return to work. If you think you are still going to be absent the following day, please notify the HR Absence Line on 0121 289 2804 by no later than 2.30pm. This is important to enable the school to arrange suitable cover. You must report your absence on a daily basis unless you have been given a period of absence through a doctor’s fit note.

Time Off Work
We have a dedicated Time Off Work policy which clearly sets out the types of time off work you can request and your entitlements. The policy can be found on The Hub. To request time off work, you will usually be required to complete a request form – which you should submit to your line manager for authorisation and will then be passed to HR for processing.
Mileage
You can claim for mileage you have incurred in the performance of your duties via Edupay. You must have business insurance to be able to claim. All other expenses must be approved by your line manager and are claimed via the ApprovalMax system. Please contact your line manager and/or the finance team for further details.
Data Protection
Any breaches or queries should be referred to the Trust’s Data Protection Lead (Mark Larigo) along with any Subject Access or Freedom of Information requests. Contact details for our Data Protection Lead can be found in the contacts section of this document.
ID Badges
You will be issued with an ID badge to signify that all relevant checks have been received and that you are a member of our staff. Please ensure that you wear this at all times when you’re on one of the Trust premises or acting as a representative of the school/Trust. Your badge can also be used to clock in/out and open some secure doors/entry points at some schools.
Pensions
All employees are automatically enrolled into either the Teachers Pension Scheme or the Local Government Pension Scheme depending on your role.
If you wish to opt out, you can do so by contacting the People team, we would advise taking professional financial advice before opting out of your pension.
Unions
There are a number of organisations who provide support and advice to those employed within the education sector.
A comprehensive list is available on our People Portal here
